Ten thousand knights on the Régordane? The path has known its moments of glory. Could too much prosperity, too much joy, be its downfall? Would a millennia-old history sink into oblivion? Like Merlin, still alive deep within the lake, the Régordane slowly descends into the waters of forgetfulness. From the late 14th century, when the Hundred Years' War made our territory too perilous to traverse, favor shifted to Germany and Flanders. The Rhône Valley and the free fairs of Lyon definitively ended its economic importance.
Revived in the 18th century by royal decree, it faded once more as its lifeblood moved elsewhere. Nothing left? Just ruins, thickets, cobblestones, a path. Here and there... But does it keep sirens captive in its depths? The music still lingers. Scents and bells continue to tell its countless legends. And from the disjointed stones rises an ancient song. Enveloping and eternal are its shores. And its mirages, leading nowhere but to the edges of our dreams.
